A meditation on presence and a practice of play, a breaking away from the complexity. Refocusing on the ordinary of daily life—abstractly deconstructing as practice to return to the present moment.

Clothespin, 2023

Spilt Wine, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

There is a ring of rouge where the glass was. It soaks in and spreads. It reminds me of the last time I bled. It reminds me of laughter, and community and the holidays.

Morning Coffee, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

The cup lip reflects the light front the window, the coffee crema sticks to the sides of the glass. The radio is on, English songs dominate the radio.

Hot Water Bottle, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

Sponge, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

Washing the dishes on a cold day is one of the under-appreciated pleasures in life. The hot water reddens your skin, thawing your cold hands and slowly radiates the heat up your arms and into the rest of you. It provides a moment for contemplation about your next idea or how the day unfolded. I have a particular way I like to wash the dishes, I assume it’s the same for most. Dishes represent an aspect of life where we exert control, and the habits we form around them merit consideration.

Vitamin D, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

Someone, at some point, told me to take vitamin D, and so I do. It seems a bit ridiculous that I spray this oily substance into my mouth when I could be outside in the sun, soaking it directly into my skin.

Lemons, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

In French it's called La Bougie, 2023

The porcelain is blue and the walls are a floral pink tile. It feels familiar.

Bouquet, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

Fresh cut flowers on the table. They bring so much colour into the room. The water is getting low, the stems just touching. They smell of spring, promises, and sincere apologies.

Headphones, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

Inside of a song there is magic. With stepping inside your chemistry changes. The song shapes your emotions like a potter to clay.

Brush and Dustpan, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

I bought a small dust broom because it matches the aesthetic of the house I may never have. It was just a few euros, an affordable step towards a dream.

Bathroom Scale, 2023
Digital painting, 12 x 18 inch

I see the scale some days, most days I don’t notice it. It leans against the wall so it’s not easily stood on. Generally, I don’t weigh myself, unless I feel the need to dive into a spiral of anxiety and self hatred.
